THE SHANGHAI TOWER

The project is a competition entry for the tallest mixed-use building in China, and it would adorn the Shanghai skyline. It is in close proximity to Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center. Shanghai's proposed design aims to seamlessly blend into its surroundings. The design simply segregates the public and private zones by using a shared vertical garden as a devising element. Public zone with cores, etc. occupies the South, while the transparent private areas open up to the city in the North. As a metaphor for nature and China's development, the massing of the project emphasizes growth.
